Raise and support the vehicle. |

Remove the tire and wheel assembly. |
3. |
Remove the brake rotor assembly. |
4. |
Insert a punch or drift (1) in the
cooling fins of the brake rotor (2), Fig. 1. |
5. |
Position the punch or drift (1) against
the brake caliper mounting bracket (5). |
6. |
Using a breaker bar and the appropriate
size socket (4), loosen the wheel drive shaft nut (3). |
7. |
Have an assistant apply the brakes. |
8. |
Remove the wheel drive shaft nut from
the wheel drive shaft and discard. Do not reuse the wheel drive
shaft nut. Use new nut only. |
9. |
Using tool No. J-28733-B (2), separate
the wheel drive shaft from the steering knuckle (1), Fig.
2. |
10. |
Remove the lower ball joint from the
steering knuckle. |
11. |
Using tool No. J-2619-A and tool No.
J-45341, remove the wheel drive shaft, Fig. 3. |
12. |
If the wheel drive shaft seal is found
to be defective, replace the seal. |
13. |
Remove speed sensor electrical connector
(1), Fig. 4. |
14. |
Remove wheel bearing-hub bolt (2). |
15. |
Remove wheel bearing-hub assembly (3)
and spacer (4). |
16. |
Reverse procedure to install, noting
the following: |

a. |
Torque wheel drive nut to 159
ft. lbs. |
|
b. |
Torque wheel bearing-hub bolt
to 85 ft. lbs. |
