Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Expansion Valve (TXV), Replace

1. Evacuate system as outlined under "Refrigerant Recovery" in "General Service" on main menu selection.
2. Reposition heater hoses for clearance.
3. Remove evaporator tube block to Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) nut, Fig. 1.
4. Disconnect evaporator inlet and outlet tube block from TXV.
5. Remove evaporator inlet tube from outlet tube.
6. Remove and discard sealing washers. Cap off evaporator inlet and outlet tubes.
7. Remove TXV to evaporator nut.
8. Remove TXV from evaporator core.
9. Remove and discard TXV sealing washers.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
  a. Install new sealing washers onto inlet and outlet tubes.
  b. Torque TXV hose fittings to 62 inch lbs.
  c. Torque TXV nut to 15 ft. lbs.
