Chevrolet Cobalt Service & Repair Manual: Engine Oil Pump Pickup R&R

On some models oil pump pickup can not be removed from pump. Pickup must be replaced with oil pump as a unit.
It is recommended to change oil filter when replacing oil pump pickup.
1. Lift and support vehicle using a suitable lift.
2. Drain engine oil from oil pan.
3. Remove oil pan from engine.
4. Remove any pickup support bracket fasteners if equipped.
5. Remove pickup mounting fasteners to oil pump.
6. Remove oil pump pickup from pump.
7. Reverse procedure to install, note following:
  a. Fill engine oil to specified level.
  b. Run engine at idle for approximately 30 seconds and turn OFF.
  c. Ensure engine oil is still at specified level.
